Ski Tahoe Backcountry

Carson Pass provides access to some of Tahoe’s finest backcountry skiing. Incredible terrain, easy access, and higher elevations make it a great zone.

This backcountry zone is characterized by rolling high alpine terrain, loads of remote 9,000’ peaks, copious snowfall, and a fraction of the skier traffic.

High above Lake Tahoe sits the beautiful Mount Rose area. This high elevation zone is accessed year round by Nevada Highway 431, topping out at 8,950’.

Steeped in history and great ski terrain, the backcountry around North Tahoe has seen winter adventurers since the dawn of skiing in the West.

With so many locations inside a 20 minute drive from town, South Lake has Tahoe’s easiest access to a wide variety of terrain.

The west shore of Lake Tahoe boasts big snow and big descents with iconic lines giving way to amazing vistas of Lake Tahoe.
